Shortly after heeding the call, Pilarm began releasing cassettes titled Elvis I, Elvis II, and Elvis III, on which he sang Presley tunes over prerecorded studio instrumental tracks. These tapes were sold after club performances and through mail order. From this catalog a 1996 CD was compiled, Eilert Pilarm's Greatest Hits. It was reported that veteran BBC Radio One DJ John Peel cited this release as among his favorite discs. A newly recorded 18-song studio follow-up, Eilert Is Back, emerged in 1998. (Both albums are on Green Pig Records.)

Eilert's Web page, created by friend, fan, and fellow Swede Per-Gunnar Eriksson, describes Pilarm with needless restraint as "probably the world's most original interpreter of songs made famous by Elvis Presley." These include the standards "Hound Dog," "Jailhouse Rock," "All Shook Up," and "Don't Be Cruel," along with film favorites like "Blue Hawaii" and devotional ballads such as "In My Father's House." Eilert Is Back also features three bonus tracks in Swedish.

Eilert's confidence is unwavering, even if the melody isn't, and his tenderness is touching. There's a melancholy in his voice, a longing, and you'll connect.
